Fear Less ‘14

It’s a New Year! We’ve said goodbye to the past, and we’re ready – really ready - to accomplish those big and small goals we resolved to pursue last New Year’s Day. Not to say that some folks didn’t achieve all of their New Year’s resolutions – (High five for those who did!), but many of us – including me- probably did not hit every goal.

So what holds us back? What keeps us from achieving big goals? What stops us from making bold changes in our lives?  We get excited about a goal, but then that excitement starts to feel like nervous energy. Then that nervous energy turns into worry and it eventually morphs into fear.  Fear of not being ready. Fear of not achieving our goals. And, ultimately, a fear of failure. There’s no guarantee that we will fully reach every goal we set, but not trying will certainly guarantee failure.

So my New Year’s resolution for 2014 is simply to fear less.  When nervous energy creeps into your spirit, drop the nervous part and focus on the ENERGY!  In fact, if someone tells you that fear is holding her back, tell her that F.E.A.R. now means Feeling Excited And Ready!

Best Wishes for a Fear Less ’14!

P.S.  I’ve been collecting inspirational quotes regarding not letting fear get in the way of achieving. I’ve included some of my favorite quotes below. What are yours?

Mary Kay Ash: “I've found that successful people are never afraid to try, because they are never afraid to fail.”

Bill Cosby: “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.”

Valorie Burton: “Refuse to let fear overload your schedule.”

Mike Krzyzewski: “Handle your past with no regrets, handle your present with confidence and face your future with no fear.”

Nelson Mandela:  “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but rather the triumph over it.”
