Operation Coco - Behind the Scenes
We are used to having GREAT days at Mary Kay. But, recently, I had a ONCE IN A LIFETIME day at Mary Kay.
I'm the administrative assistant for the public relations team, and I've been with the team about 10 months. Let me tell you, I've seen these people pull off some amazing things. Global Makeover Day! 50th Anniversary Pink Cadillac Rally! World Record for a Makeup Painting! I can honestly tell you after working with them on many of these projects, you don't want to know how the sausage is made. Great people, but I'm just saying...
But this one time, I have to share with you how the CoCo is made. That's Team CoCo. That's Conan O'Brien!!!!
Here's how it started. It was Friday afternoon and was already working on another supercalifragilisticexpialidocious project when I heard what seemed like the world split open. I was called into one of the manager's office and was told. "We are filming Monday."
We hear that all the time, so I initially couldn't understand why the look of "oh my" was happening. I knew something big must have happened, but I never imagined it would be a 6” 4’ skinny, red headed comedian. On Friday, March 14 at 3 p.m. we received a call from the producers of Conan that they were coming to Dallas and wanted to film a segment with Mary Kay.
And by the way, they wanted to film it Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. And by the way, they wanted to film Conan as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. And by the way, they wanted us to keep everything confidential. And by the way, YIKES! And that is the most polite word I can use to describe what it took to pull this together. As you know by now, we made it happen. Hope you loved it. You can watch this video from Instagram and check out a few behind the scenes photos.
Pictured below: To turn Conan into a Mary Kay Independent Beauty, he could decide from being himself or Connie. Thanks to Mary Kay’s Virtual Makeover app Conan had the choice to be “Conan the Beauty Consultant” or “Connie”… I think he made the right choice, Connie was a little scary.
Pictured below: Conan arrived at the Mary Kay building and we began filming. I was standing outside the boardroom during the scenes with Krystal Walker. We were able to hear Conan screaming, laughing and even singing. Which or course, made me scream, laugh and sing.
Pictured below: Did you wonder why you were asked not to share any Conan news on social media? Originally, producers thought a few tweets or Facebook posts by employees would go un-noticed. Conan and his entire team were blown away at the employee response in the lobby! Producers were so surprised and overwhelmed that they had to ban any and all social media posts! Make sure you watch the CONAN360: Behind The Scenes Of Conan's Mary Kay Remote and move the camera around with your mouse, you might be able to spot yourself in the crowd!
Pictured below: Conan and Darrell Brown, Mary Kay's Social Media Manager.
Pictured below: We moved to our second location for a skin care class. Five unsuspecting women were pretty surprised when Conan walked in and began teaching them about our products.
Pictured below: Before I knew it, we were done filming and the day was over. It was an experience of a lifetime, and Conan could not have been nicer! That's me with Conan and my teammate, Virginia. Conan is the tall one in case you didn't know.
