Breaking New Ground

When you’ve been in business for 53 years, you get to celebrate a lot. Anniversaries, expansion into new markets, breaking business records and even the occasional Guinness World Record! While these are all exciting ventures, there is nothing quite like breaking new ground for the future.

On September 13, 53 years to the day Mary Kay Ash started Mary Kay, we broke ground on our new manufacturing and research and development facility in Lewisville, Texas. With 57 percent of the products we currently manufacture being exported to more than 35 countries, our new state-of-the-art 480,000 square foot facility will continue to create products made in America; supporting our future needs in producing skin care, color cosmetics and fragrances for more than 3.5 million Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants around the world.

This event was particularly special as we payed homage to our founder. We commissioned a 7’x6’ lipstick mosaic to be created out of a famous portrait of Mary Kay Ash. This mosaic is made out of 11,700 Mary Kay® Creme Lipsticks – the amount of lipsticks we produce at manufacturing in nearly two hours! This mosaic will hang in our new facility once it is finished in 2018.

We appreciate everyone who made it to Lewisville to celebrate this company milestone, including all of the federal, state and local officials who took the time to attend. But for those of you who couldn’t make it, you can still watch the event here on Mary Kay News Facebook and get a behind the scenes look with the video and images.

We’re excited to set out on this new journey, and look forward to seeing what the next 53 years hold for Mary Kay.
