Know the Signs - Don't Look Away from Abuse
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. With one in three young people in the U.S. experiencing abuse in a dating relationship, we’re sharing Mary Kay’s three-part PSA series “1 in 3” once every week during the month of October to help raise awareness of this important issue.
Abuse can come in many forms besides physical – digital, financial and emotional/verbal are also forms of abuse. Sometimes it can be easy to miss these signals, and how do you appropriately intervene with someone who might be experiencing this in a relationship?
Mary Kay’s Don’t Look Away campaign helps prevent and end domestic violence by sharing resources to educate young adults on how to seek help or learn more about healthy relationships. As part of this campaign, Mary Kay is the lead sponsor of the loveisrespect text for help service – the nation’s first texting program designed to help young people with healthy dating and relationships. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse and needs help, send the text “loveis” to 22522. Experts at loveisrespect are available 24/7 to provide safe and anonymous support, and Mary Kay is proud to support this program which has helped hundreds of thousands of people.
Please join us in our efforts and Don’t Look Away from abuse, and share this video with your friends, family and loved ones.
