To Texas, With Love

February has always been synonymous with candy hearts, thoughtful cards, flowers and love. February is also Teen Dating Violence Awareness month and a great time to talk about what love means and how to make it healthy.

This Valentine’s Day, Mary Kay and our partners at the Texas Coalition on Family Violence came together for Capitol Day. Think the ultimate Valentine’s Day party on the lawn of the Texas State Capitol. Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Austin was part of Mary Kay’s national Lobbying for Good program, an initiative that dates back to our founder – Mary Kay Ash – and her emphasis on creating a company with a culture of giving back. Mary Kay has lobbied on issues like insurance coverage for mammograms, the Violence Against Women Act, teen dating violence curriculum in schools, appropriations for life-saving domestic violence programs and much more.

Each Winter and Spring, our Lobbying for Good program is a reminder to me that this company is about more than lipstick and pink Cadillacs. It’s about using our big pink megaphone to amplify the message for all women, men and children impacted by domestic violence. Mary Kay’s Lobbying for Good program is about democracy in action.

This year, for the first time, we streamed LIVE from Capitol Day. We want YOU to see how inspirational all of these participants are when they rally and lobby for good together. Did you miss the Live Stream? No problem! Catch it on our Mary Kay News Facebook page here.

Tell us below -- when have you lent your voice to causes that are near and dear to you? Keep an eye out for more updates and lobbying for good programs in other cities.
