Participating at International Women’s Forum Cornerstone Conference in Barcelona was an honor for me and Mary Kay Spain. Every year, this event brings together thought leaders, innovators and trailblazers from around the world to advance women’s leadership globally and locally – which is so inspiring!  As one of the world’s leading corporate champions of women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, Mary Kay was proud to support such an extraordinary network of women to exchange ideas, learn and inspire one another. During this conference, I had the opportunity to introduce “Fashion Forward” panel at International Women's Forum, where fashion experts explored the growth of fast fashion and the innovative ways designers and manufacturers are making fashion more sustainable. Panelists included Misha Nonoo, Designer and Creative Director of Misha Nonoo, Jennifer Fleiss, Co-Founder & CEO of Jetblack, and Beatriz Bayo, Director of CSR at Mango. Sandra Silva, General Manager of Mary Kay Portugal, Olga Jiménez, Independent National Sales Director, and Mar Hernández, Independent Sales Director, were also able to join us during the event.  

The topics of fashion and sustainability are important to our business. As a top beauty brand, Mary Kay has partnered with various fashion platforms. From the official beauty sponsor for seasons three and thirteen of Lifetime’s Emmy-nominated hit series Project Runway to a special exhibition at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to honor the multifaceted color pink – Mary Kay’s signature color! 

In countries around the world, Mary Kay partners with prominent fashion pioneers. In Spain, Mary Kay worked with fashion designer Juanjo Oliva to design the exclusive Mary Kay’s ‘Gallery Bag.’ In Mexico, Mary Kay partnered with famous fashion designer Benito Santos to design Mary Kay’s ‘It Bag’ and in Brazil, Mary Kay worked with fashion designer Lolitta.

At Mary Kay, sustainability is core to our business and we partner with organizations whose mission is to preserve and beautify our communities globally by preserving the Earth’s resources. Mary Kay Ash once said, “I feel very strongly that we must do everything in our power to save our planet or our grandchildren will not have a place to live.  Let me emphasize that Mary Kay is an environmental leader because we strongly feel it is the right thing to do.” An example of our commitment in sustainability is the new Richard R. Rogers Manufacturing (R3), a new Research & Development center in which Mary Kay has invest more than $100 million to support future growth of our innovative products. Our company offers innovative, environmentally friendly products and packaging, including our refillable compact that has been around for more than 30 years and we have implemented robust recycling programs and much more.

I am very proud to have kicked off this panel and to continue Mary Kay Ash’s work of empowering women through this sponsorship and many others that will provide a global platform to some of the most powerful and influential women of our time.
